Altamont has just posted a couple of vids about A-Ron and his Off Bowery for Altamont collection as part of their “Cut from a different cloth…” video campaign series. Portland’s Monsieur T. has just dropped their Summer 2009 tee shirt line. They pulled in graphics from Arbito, Evan B. As part of Altamont’s Cut From a Different Cloth program, which aims to “bring together a diverse group of creative outcasts—people who make their living by doing what they love most,” they had A-Ron put together everything from denim to tees to fitteds to a friendship belt that embody the Off Bowery steez. The Matix crew recently pulled Marty Murawski, Brandon Beibel, Mike Anderson, Marc Johnson, Daewon Song, Torey Pudwill, Jeron Wilson and Mike Mo together to rip up a warehouse for a day. This mellow edit shows some of the fun behind the scenes. Look for Matix fall 09 online at at retailers soon.
In slightly weird news, legendary skateboarder Mike Vallely has signed up with Affliction, a predominantly Mixed Martial Arts apparel brand. Speculation isn’t really necessary here because Mike V pretty much explains it all in the above video. And because MMA brands have money, have you seen the TapOut booth at ASR? Following the success of the three month Shaun White for Target capsule collection that debuted last August, Shaun and his mysterious brother Jesse have green lit another go around. They’d have to be insane not too, it’s Target! In any case, the line has gown a bit for 09, and while they are concentrating the bulk of their efforts on the lucrative boy’s market, the men’s collection is unarguably solid. Basic high quality tees that will be sold in two-packs, some decent graphic tees and hoodies, and some particularly strong plaids have been joined by a moto-inspired jacket and an M65-inspired jacket which will both retail for only $29, as well as a cardigan designed to channel your inner dirty old man. With over-paying for stuff definitely out of style right now, its a good bet SWFT is gonna kill this fall. Complete looks after the jump.
We’ve been watching Grenade over the last few months as they transition themselves from a snow-specific brand focused on gloves to a full on action sports lifestyle streetwear brand with a wide variety of offerings. With the release of their Summer 2009 T-shirts, it looks like they continue to head in the right direction. Strong and more mature graphics have replaced simple logo applications and give Grenade a look that’s definitely beyond typical mountain swag. The kid holding the grenade is classic. SoCal skate lifestyle brand Orisue has just released their Summer 2009 collection, “Life Out Loud.” Inspired by a summer that promises to be full of “Buds, Babes, and Booze,” Orisue comes with a dope variety of button ups, premium cut and sew tank tops and shirts, denim and shorts, and a bunch of graphic tees. You’ll see bright summer colors flipped with neutral tones for stuff that’s fly without being over the top. The “Life Out Loud” lookbook was shot by Louis, Tigran, and Alex of TIKKO Studios and features DJ Sourmilk, Just-N-Credible, and Mando Fresko of Power 106’s “Los Angeles Leakers,” and Jonathan of Alife. Standrd, the new skate lifestyle apparel brand out of NorCal, has just released their Fall/Winter 2009 lookbook. Started by the dudes at Official, Standrd’s mission is to create premium, yet crazy affordable basics. You can see that they’ve got both detailing and styling just right for when you wanna be nondescript but not bummy, and the price points (beanies at $9, adjustable styles from $17-$19, fitteds from $18-$19, and cut & sew Ts between $12-$14.) are impossible to front on. Standrd will be releasing a light introduction of the line in July before they drop their entire inaugural collection in October. The lookbook was shot by veteran skate photographer Jeff Landi.
