Cardboard is a pretty crazy material if you think about it. It protects things you send, it holds shit for you, kids can make forts from it, bums can make houses out of it, and artists like Dominic Owen can make full scale replica skateboards including trucks and wheels with it. New fine art x skateboarding platform The Sk8room has commissioned a deck series with Belgian artist ROA which also ties in to their recent joint trip to Cambodia to visit Skateistan. See the trip video after the jump. Via Arrested Motion.

Last night the surviving member of NYC’s 1990’s skateboard community came out in droves to Milk studios for a retrospective from director/artist/provocateur Larry Clark. Most famous for his debut movie “Kids,” the installation was not as much about Clark’s work as it was about memorabilia from the era. Items included “vintage” t-shirts, posters, and hoodies as well as relics from his films. Check out some more photos from Michael Cohen after the jump.

Multi-talented skateboarder and artist has his first solo show kicking off in Los Angeles and based on the name alone you can be sure it’s going to be rad. “Conversations with a Pine Cone” is presented by WeSC and opens at Temple Space at 7pm tomorrow, hit the jump for full info and watch the video above to realize you should be doing so much more with your life.

Vans and Marvel Entertainment join forces for a footwear collection featuring the most iconic Super Heroes of all time. The collection will launch with Iron Man and Spider-Man, each individually depicted on Vans Classic silhouettes for adults, kids and toddlers with a second delivery in March featuring The Avengers. Last night was the opening reception for the Shut x Impossible collaboration that joined skateboarding with Polaroid photography. Zered Bassett, Scott Caan, Eli Morgan Gesner, Chris Nieratko, Alex Olson, and Scott Oster all captured unique images that were then made into a limited edition series of six skateboard graphics by Shut. If you are one of the many NY and LA’ers in Miami this week for the party meets culture clash that is Art Basel, we have one thing that you must see. NYC x Rio De Janeiro crew TWD is throwing a massive group show that takes their collective weight from the streets and into 3000 square feet of raw space for an unprecedented mingling of cosmic energy known as “The Warrior’s Dream.” The show features artists Pixote, Sabio, Sye 5, Cern, Fresh, Erasmo, Carlos Baptista, Brian Sensebe, Kori Girard, and Brock Fetch, along with musical performances by Trouble Andrew and Jasmine Solano and a slide show by Ricky Powell. Friends Marilyn Rondon, Dave Ortiz, Tim Strazza, Ulli Barta and Wyatt Neumann have come together to create “Bring Back The Boardwalks“, an organization dedicated to providing funds and relief to victims of the storm, specifically targeted in the Rockaway Beach and Coney Island communities. With help from Spike Jonze, Adrian Grenier, Elijah Wood; and featuring donated works from the likes of Curtis Kulig, Michael Halsbald, Tom Sachs, Milton Glaser, Futura, Jason Goldwatch, Peter Tunney, Kenzo, RoStarr, SWOON, Ricky Powell and many, many more, this art event should prove to be not only a kick ass exhibition of some of New York’s finest, but also a great fundraiser for fellow New Yorkers in need. Please join them this Saturday, November 17th, from 2pm – 9pm at Trais Gallery, 76 Wooster St, NYC.

Trouble Andrew and Yelawolf, who have been touring all fall, are releasing a new song and video on November 30 for “Cheated” and gave Radcollector an exclusive first look at the artwork. The animation for the video was done by Drew Toonz who also did Trouble’s recent joint with Riff Raff. Should be a good one!
