Camp Woodward took another step in their global expansion with the opening of their four season camp at Boreal in Lake Tahoe. Tony Hawk, Jaws, Riley Hawk, Slash, Neal Hendrix, Hannah Teter, Tanner Hall and more were on hand for the ribbon cutting and from the looks of this video, it may be the sickest multi sport training facility on the planet.
Our last pick from evo’s Winter catalog is the Nixon Time Teller Watch. Its sleek casual style makes it perfect as an everyday watch or a dope gift. Check out all the styles of Nixon’s evo carries here.
Speaking of camps, Woodward at Copper opened for their summer 2010 sessions this weekend. The one of a kind indoor/outdoor camp has a 20,000 sq ft barn with Snowflex jumps, foam pits, a spring floor, fly-bed trampolines and indoor skateboard features that should start pushing out shred prodigies by August. Check out a live feed from the barn here.
It might be hot as a mofo most places in the Northern Hemisphere right now but at High Cascade Snowboard Camp it’s prime shredding weather. Check out the evidence in this buttery backside dub 10 thrown by Mason Aguirre yesterday. Peep more Frends videos at FrendsVision.
If you’ve never been to High Cascade, make a point to, it’s one of the raddest places to shred in all the world. Your brain has a hard time wrapping itself around how sick it is to be shredding in in the dead of summer with the illest pros in the game. With their focus on the fun of core rising, its no suprise that Celtek has joined forces with HCSC for a glove collab this summer. Here’s a first look. The Cletek x HCSC glove will be available exclusively at the HCSC store. Check out the ad for the collab after the jump.
Sometimes out of tragedy comes upliftment, and that is certainly the case for Andy Kessler, who’s legacy is now being passed to the next generation through the Andy Kessler Foundation. Through support from Vans, kids aged 8 to 18 can register for free summer skate clinics in NYC this Saturday, May 29th 10am-12pm at KCDC in Brooklyn. Full details after the jump.
Camp Woodward opened their first camp on foreign soil this weekend in the Daxing District of Beijing, China. Under hot sun and a trippy rain of snowflake sized pollen, a contingent of major players in street and vert skating christened what could easily be called the raddest skate facility in the world. The assembled crowd, which included Woodward brass, government officials, soldiers, Chinese shredders, BMX riders, French Parkour dudes, cheerleaders, Olympic gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson and even some kook with skateboard wheels on the bottom of a wok, was possibly the most unique at a skate event ever. Dudes like Tony Hawk, Sandro Dias, PLG, and Kevin Staab handled business on the gleaming new halfpipe before Ryan Sheckler, Tom Asta, Riley Hawk, Curran Caples, Jaws, Jimmy Carlin, Dane Burman, David Loy, and Billy Rohan tore up the polished marble studded lakefront street course on their way to a share of the $15,000 in prize money. After Sheckler and Asta walked with most of the dough, the opening was capped off with an old fashioned Chinese fireworks display. Check out our mega-gallery of behind the scenes shots after the jump and stick around for more from this historic day in skateboarding.
To celebrate the opening of Woodward Beijing today, Woodward got together with Create a Skate, Paul Schmitt’s custom deck operation to produce a series of limited edition skate decks. In a hilarious twist, they read “Made in the China” on the top, a perfect homage to the idiosyncrasies of radness here in China. It is already the 15th in Beijing, hence this post looking like its coming from the future. Check out the topsheet after the jump.
After mobbing through the Forbidden City yesterday, the ever growing contingent of heads in China for the opening of Woodward Beijing tomorrow were joined by legends Tony Hawk, Sandro Dias, and Kevin Staab for a jaunt to the Great Wall of China. Between dodging throngs of eager vendors and scaling thousands of near vertical steps in the rain, the crew stopped to pose with the infamous cackling “Pipe Man.” Some more shots after the jump.
Transworld posted this edit of a quick tour of the Woodward Beijing Skatepark. The out door plaza is filled with brand new granite and marble & a huge vert ramp, and the gigantic indoor park has everything you can imagine. The place looks dope! Radcollector’s editor in chief Tim Brodhagen is in Beijing covering the grand opening events as we speak, so stay tuned for more updates.
