Omar Salazar and Nike SB threw a two day shredfest in the Bay Area this week to coincide with his new signature shoe drop. Rad Collector columnist Tracy Anderson was out west to skate Sac Town, BBQ with the Thrasher heads, tour Deluxe, and kick it with Omar, P-Rod, Koston, Stefan Janoski, Brian Anderson, Justin Brock and a long list of other SB shreds as well as to get the story about what it took for Omar to get his shoe turned into a reality. Vans and Crooks & Castles are finally dropping their long awaited Classic Chukka in Epi Leather with Crooks accents. The all black colorway will obviously be a hot commodity. The shoe will be released on Feb 12th in limited quantities only at the Crooks stores on Melrose and Sunset, so east coast heads are slightly out of luck on this one. More looks after the jump.
Last night Home studios in Manhattan played host to the Vans x Hellz collection release party. The place was filled with sneakerheads and dime pieces alike peepin the new women’s footwear, having drinks and then having some more. Music for the night was provided by sets from DJ Elle and Roxy Cottontail. After the party? You guessed it, was the after party. Vans and Jack’s Surfboards have linked for a collab on Van’s new model the Rata Vulc. Available exclusively through Jack’s retail and online stores, the Rata Vulc Pier Classic edition is being released in conjunction with the upcoming 2010 Van’s Pier Classic (Presented by Jack’s Surfboards) in Huntington Beach. Featuring anchor embroidery and a limited edition insole, the Rata Vulc is a follow up to last year’s Rata sandal. The Pier Classic goes down March 24 through 28. More looks after the jump.
On the OG tip, Emerica is dropping the Rip Slip, a new model for spring 2010. Billed as the first fully skateable slip-on loafer, this is the perfect kick for pushing to the store for 40’s and blunts and then coming right back to the beanbag chair without having to put back on your house shoes. Nike 6.0 has another rad limited edition kick coming down the pipe. This time it’s their new Braata model hooked up by the artist Mark Paul Deren (a.k.a. Madsteez) and his protege Evan “Stink” Rossell. Done up in an electric green, purple, yellow, and black with glow in the dark laces and a clear sole laid over custom artwork by Madsteez and Stink, the Stinkween Braata will hit in super limited quantities right in time of the US Open of Surfing. DC & UXA has just released the limited edition Ryan Smith 2.0S “The Big Apple” collaboration. Designed by Peter Huynh, Jefferson Pang and Peter Bici. Eric Koston leaves Lakai? Well, rumors are spread and this funny press conference video by Lakai might be a late April Fool’s… but it’s not as the Lakai page states. So far, there’s no information on where Eric is heading. Possibly he’s joining his Berrics-buddy Steve Berra on DVS, possibly he’s not and starting his own company. But one thing is for sure – Koston won’t be sponsorless for more than a few days. We’ll keep you updated.
