Nike Skateboarding Europe continues to create amazing content, this time by teaming up with Fluff Magazine to produce an epically proportioned book featuring more than 100 European skateboarders on 600 pages. To launch the book, Fluff and SB are opening a pop up space along with Trust Nobody on Placa Comercial in Barcelona. From December 12 through January 11, both the book and the limited edition Fluff x SB Bruin will be available. The collaboration will have it’s own website launching on December 12 as well. adidas Skateboarding just dropped this rad behind the scenes video about the evolution of Dennis Busenitz’s pro model shoe. A skater’s skater who’s pretty much beloved by all due to his constant balls to the wall style, Busenitz was very particular about getting his shoe right and striking the perfect balance between skate functionality and adidas heritage soccer style. But it’s not all talk, he shreds super hard in this clip too. Via GrindTV.
The Supra Skytop 2 tour hit Paris over the weekend, doubling down with the Tony Hawk Show to make Paris the world epicenter of skate for one night only. With triple stitch and IPATH’s trademark stash pocket, the Bob Mid has everything you need for getting lifted on or off the Mega Ramp. Look for it at IPATH dealers starting in January. Here’s a super sneak peek at the new Axion Liberty, a high top due to release for Fall 2010. In addition to the purple/black, the Liberty will come in a throwback black/teal/red colorway super reminiscent of those mid-nineties good ol days. We’ll have more from Axion in good time.
Vans Vault held an event at Proper in Long Beach, California on Saturday to celebrate the release of the new Ray Barbee collection and to celebrate his 20 years of influence on skateboarding. In an amazingly rad display, Proper had all of Barbee’s boards from 1989 to the present including Powell-Peralta, The Firm, and his upcoming deck with Element. The Element artwork was done by none other than Sean Cliver, the man responsible for the original Barbee Ragdoll graphic. Taking it down a notch from colorways that have included a Las Vegas casino carpet pattern and a neon homage to Andre Agassi, Braydon Szafranski has just dropped a mellow black and blue version of his high top pro-model. The kid still get can’t get enough of Vegas though, the kicks come with a craps table-printed insole that you can whip out to get a quick fix on anytime the gambling bug strikes you. Not many bands can even get people to come check them on tour, but Supra can put a shoe on the road and pull in crowds. Starting at Collette in Paris on November 21 and rolling through ten of the dopest shops in France and the US over the next two weeks, the Supra crew will be hand delivering 36 individually numbered pairs of Skytop 2s to each store and leaving total chaos in their wake. This is pretty random but we felt worthy of the post for a few reasons. The first being that we like Grenade and have always had high hopes for their success, the second being the fact that the shoes weren’t all that impressive at first glance, and the third being that if anyone is experiencing a 600% increase in sales, its gotta mean good things for everyone. So here it is, Grenade has pre-sold more than 9,000 pairs of kicks for Spring 2010 and footwear has become the most successful part of their business. Who woulda thought? We’ll let you know what happens next.
Habitat has some interesting new footwear coming out for Spring 2010 and have just dropped a preview of the Ibex. A nice low-profile mid, seen here in all black, the Ibex has a premium PU footbed riding on a recycled natural gum vulcanized outsole and of course put together with eco-friendly water-based glues. With midweight tongue and collar padding, this should be a good shoe for mellow springtime cruising. Look for these to ship to Habitat dealers in February of next year.
