VBS.tv’s excellent webisode snowboard documentary, Powder & Rails, has given young shredders some history and OG’s a walk down memory lane by dropping knowledge on everyone from Damien Sanders to Jeff Brushie to Jake Burton himself. The first season is a wrap so to celebrate VBS is airing FLF’s “Snowboarders in Exile” in its entirety. This film is arguably what propelled the momentum of the entire snowboarding industry. Elsewhere in the world of kicks morphing into snowboard boots, 686 has linked with New Balance for NB’s first ever foray into riding. Based on the MT580, the New Balance x 686 “580″ even uses both the Rollbar and Abzorb tech that comes in the shoes. No word on how they ride yet but these boots have been confirmed to be mad comfy on the feet. The 580 comes in black plaid and white plaid and also features interchangeable BOA lace coilers. This collab takes it one step further and also includes limited edition dual branded 580 and 420 sneakers, three outerwear pieces, a New Era fitted, and sweatshirts and tees. This is one of three high profile 686 collabs for 2009/10 including Levi’s and Krew. More on those later. A bunch more pics after the jump.

Nike Snowboarding has unveiled its Winter 2009/10 Collection. Although some are trying to resist Nike’s re-entrance into snowboarding, it’s pretty hard to front on these boots. Plan and simple, if you are a Nike head, you are going to need these. With a team that includes Danny Kass, Laura Hadar, Louie Vito, Eric Jackson, Justin Benee, Austin Smith and Annie Boulanger, they also have the talent to back it up. This is no ACG of the late 90’s and early 00’s. Six more boots after the jump.

In one of the doper stories to come out of SIA this year, pro riders JP Solberg, Romain DeMarchi and David Carrier-Porcheron have started a new snowboard company called Yes. All three had been lifetime Burton riders until some team shakeups went down this past season. Not content to jump back into the sponsor game, the three decided to pool their cumulative expertise and notoriety and create what JP Solberg says will be a “pure snowboard company.” Launching from a booth with only super limited product and zero hype, Yes has already started to place orders with some of the top snowboard shops in the world. In an interesting twist on their minimalist philosophy, Yes screenprinted their catalog on the inside of their promo tees. Stay tuned for an in depth look at a brand that will surely be making some noise in the next couple seasons. Check out a couple more looks at Yes after the jump.
