Saturdays Surf in Soho played host for the Casio G’zONE event last night showcasing its newest surf friendly phones, the Rock and Brigade. It was mellow but packed with people sipping on Asahi beer while a cool documentary about Maine’s Grain Surfboards played on the back porch. Most random spotting: breakdance legend Crazy Legs was in the house. But even crazier is the fact that the streets laced with snow just a few weeks ago and now its time to surf? This Thursday March 18, Casio G’zOne is hooking up with Saturdays Surf to host a film screening and exhibition centered around Grain Surfboards in York Maine who make surfboards using traditional boat building techniques. The film, as well as accompanying still photos were both shot by Ito and will be on display at Saturdays. Full details after the jump.

Architecture for Humanity, a group that aims to “build a more sustainable future using the power of design,” has teamed up with Nike 6.0 for the “Safe Trestles” Design Competition. Currently the only routes into the famed surf spot are dangerous to both people and the environment, involving crossing active train tracks and stepping on fragile ecosystems. The Safe Trestles competition will implement the best design that provides safe access with minimal impact.

Surf brand SUPERbrand launched their new website today with an exclusive preview of their first ever apparel collection for Fall 2010. Travis Rice has expanded his impressive roster of projects with the opening of the Asymbol Gallery in Jackson Hole. The gallery will serve as a creative hub and marketplace for art and photos from the worlds of snow, surf and skate. Co-curated by Mike Parillo and launching with the works of Mike Parillo, Jamie Lynn, Ari Marcopoulos, Scott Lenhardt, Tim Zimmerman, Danny Zapalac, Adam Haynes, Jeff Curtes, Nick Russian, Mike Blabac, Matt French, Trent Mitchell as well as pieces from the I Am Snowboarding collection, all works included have never been available for purchase before. Vans and Jack’s Surfboards have linked for a collab on Van’s new model the Rata Vulc. Available exclusively through Jack’s retail and online stores, the Rata Vulc Pier Classic edition is being released in conjunction with the upcoming 2010 Van’s Pier Classic (Presented by Jack’s Surfboards) in Huntington Beach.
