Done up in an electric green, purple, yellow, and black with glow in the dark laces and a clear sole laid over custom artwork by Madsteez and Stink, the Stinkween Braata will hit in super limited quantities right in time of the US Open of Surfing. These joints will get you noticed. Jack’s Surfboards has just put them up for pre-order here. More images after the jump.
Here is a reason to quit surfing – no matter what you do in your life you will never catch up with this kid. Like a true child prodigy, 13 year old Nike 6.0 surfer Ian Gentil just won the Open Boys competition at NSSA Nationals by getting a perfect score for only the third time in NSSA history! Lil homie hit two perfect 10’s for a perfect score of 20, something that has only happened twice before in 31 years. Damn! Peep the steez above.

Five pairs will be sold through the Jack’s online store, twelve will be sold at the Motel No Tell, and the other seven will be promo’d to a handful of the raddest influencers on the planet. We’ve been telling you about the different aspects of project BLUE, the surf industry initiative to donate money from the sales of special product to the Surfrider Foundation. In addition to their other efforts, project BLUE has launched a contest asking people to take a picture of themselves in front of a shop that carries brands that are a part of project BLUE (Billabong, DAKINE, Electric, Famous Wax, Nixon, O’Neill and Reef) and then a second picture inside the store next to project BLUE merch. If your pic is chosen you win some project BLUE gear and get to ride a high horse about how you’re so much more pro-enviro than your friends. Easy enough eh? Send entries to contest@betruetoblue.com. For more contest info go here. Contest runs until June 9 so gets to snappin.

It doesn’t seem like there could be a whole lot of improvements left to make in boardshort technology but leave it up to Quiksilver to find one. This summer they are introducing Diamond Dobby Technology, essentially little diamond shaped pillows on the inside of the shorts which in addition to reducing rashes, stretching a massive 33% horizontally, drying twice as fast as a normal boardshort and being super lightweight, promises to “keep you shredding in crazy comfort and your special areas happy all day long.” That sounds nice. Above is the new “Cool Out” boardshort, check out the Diamond Dobby tech close up after the jump.
Somebody’s got to do it right? Surf industry veteran Mike Aguirre has thrown himself into the troubled waters of print media with the launch of MorSURF Magazine. MorSURF promises to be “a reflection of what’s really happening in the water,” and for “people who like to read stories and in-depth articles and who enjoy the quality of photography in print.” We support it, however it might not be smart to start a press release with “At a time when the entire publishing industry is in turmoil, besieged by bloggers, under attack by twitterers,” you know? Can’t we all just get along? Via Boardistan.
