Next up in the Nike 6.0 x Todd Selby Campaign are Garrett Reynolds and Nigel Sylvester, arguably 6.0’s two biggest names. Selby did a sick job with these, catching Nigel up in QB and Garret chillaxing in Dirty Jerz – Tom’s River to be exact. All the shots after the jump. Via Defgrip.
Kelly D Williams has just laid down a historical document with his interview of OG skate artist Andy Howell. Published in Slap, the opening line gives a great summation: “Andy Howell rolled on to the spotlit scene at the very end of the ’80’s – early enough to share some space with artistic skate pioneers like Gonz, Natas, Miller, Blender and those in the pantheon, but late enough to take their influence and shape the next wave, on board and on canvas.” Read the whole thing here.
Todd Bratrud and Nike SB have joined forces again for the dope “Brain Wreck” Dunk High. Available in October, the “Brain Wreck” comes in a mellow and soothing grey/white/pink colorway but wiling it out a bit will be big text reading “Brain Wreck” on the back. Pretty sick. A look at the back after the jump. Via CtotheJL.
Yesterday we showed you the trailer for Eero Ettala’s new show, “Tracking Eero,” now here’s a look at a segment. Check out how Oakley treats their athletes during Winter X, it ain’t no joke. Rad Collector was at the house a few times last winter and it is some for real insane shit. Best part of this clip: The Chris Hotell cameo. Don’t get it twisted, he’s got one of the best jobs in the world. Via GrindTV.
As we told you before with the release of the Todd Selby x Nike 6.0 Ben Horan shots, Nike 6.0 is going big into wakeskate. As a major jumping off, they will premiere their first-ever wakeskate movie, Aquafrolics, starring Horan, Nick Taylor, Matt Manzari, Andrew Pastura, James Balzer, and Silas Thurman in Orlando on Saturday, August 22 as part of the Surf Expo weekend. No longer wakeboarding’s little brother, wakeskate has evolved into a sublime artform owing way more to skateboarding than to wake any day. Won’t be in Orlando? Not to worry. Aquafrolics will be available in its entirety on the 6.0 site later this month. Stay tuned for more on this growing movement.
In addition to putting together some ill videos for this fall, Fourstar is also coming correct with their New Era collection. For Fall 2009 they’ve got the Bar, Blackout Anchor, Thrasher, Earflap, St Pirate, Pillbox, Stars Plaid, and the Pirate Mesh in a nice mix of materials from wool to mesh back. Look for them at Fourstar dealers starting right about now.
It’s Vew-Do’s 20th anniversary and to commemorate it they are releasing some new versions of classic Vew-Do shapes with traditional African artwork meant to recall the balance board’s heritage in East Africa. Yep its a little known fact that balance boarding in America was started by a dude named Stanley Washburn who made one for his daughter after seeing them in the Takoradi jungle in the 1940’s. He passed the knowledge onto Brew Moscarello who started Vew-Do in 1990. The Zippy (above) has been in the line since the company’s inception and is their top intermediate board. Stay tuned for more on Vew-Do’s 20th anniversary releases.
This is rad on a bunch of levels. Full DIY shred craze from Tallinn, Estonia. No idea who these dues are but they are ripping. Via The Come Up.
Oakley has announced a rad project for this winter with “Tracking Eero” a multi-media project following the winter of Finnish super shred Eero Ettala. The project, a joint effort between Oakley’s 1242 Productions and Friday Productions, the crew that did “Terje’s Season’s Pass” on Fuel, will consist of a television series, webisodes and a documentary video. “Tracking Eero” will follow Eero from Russian military zones to Japanese pow to Heli shredding in BC and will also feature appearances from Nicolas Muller, Danny Kass, Eiki Helgason, Torstein Horgmo, Terje Haakonsen, Jake Blauvelt, Eric Botner and Kevin Pearce. Ettala himslef pushed the idea saying “I wanted to do something different from my usual season filming a video part. The idea of a TV show, webisodes and a snowboard movie gave me the chance to go anywhere in the world, ride with whoever I wanted and really try some new things.”
‘Tracking Eero’ will air on international television networks throughout the ‘09-’10 winter, including FUEL TV, NRK, MTV3 and Gaora Sports. For more go to trackingeero.com.
Today we have some more shots from the Nike 6.0 x Todd Selby project for Fall/Holiday apparel. This is Ben Horan, 6.0’s top wakeskate dog shot at his home in Nahunta, GA where Nike also just finished building a two-tiered pond with stairs and a rail for homie to shred in. It’s good to be on Nike! 6.0 will continue to go hard in wakeskate this summer with the release of their first ever wakeskate film, Aquafrolics. More on that real soon. More Selby shots after the jump.
