Speaking of X Games, if you were watching you no doubt saw Anthony Napolitan pull his double front flip in the BMX Big Air. Now check him out at Woodward busting it out for the first time just a couple weeks ago in this ill vid from Will Stroud. Insane! Via VitalBMX.
X Games is like the most major massive contest deal in the universe and since you could get all the action you needed and then some from ESPN this weekend, we didn’t go too nuts trying to keep up. In that spirit, here is the full X Games recap direct from the ESPN crew. Check it out as Sal Masekela and Dana Jacobsen break down the big moments. This year was a good one – full results are right here. We also have some exclusive on-the-ground shots from X from Laura Austin that we will be running shortly. Stay tuned.
Over the weekend, DC continued to kill it in LA with their Gold Standard 2009 events and on Friday night went big with Monster for an all-out ho-down at the Fantasy Factory. Boldfacers included DJ Clark Kent, Clipse, Fabolous, Ken Block, Rob Dyrdek, Chris Doyle, and Nick Dompierre. You know you wish you were there. More pics after the jump.
He’s already had two Plan B video parts and the cover of Thrasher, but another introduction never hurt anyone, right? C1RCA welcomes Scott Decenzo to their squad with a 16 page Dialog interview and this ill video. Next up for Scott – the east coast C1RCA tour with Sierra Fellers, Tony Tave, Ryan Gallant, and Walker Ryan. Go here for more.
It’s an action sports party bonanza this week. Across the country DC is holding court at the Standard LA and kicked things off for their Gold Standard 2009 last night. While Peanut Butter Wolf rocked, heads like Nick Dompierre, Chad Cagy, Jolene Van Vugt, Ikka Backstrom, Kimmy Fasani, Aaron Bittner, and Corey Bohan partied with Hollywood types and other industry hangers on. The Gold Standard 2009 is sponsored by Monster Energy, Codemasters’ DiRt 2, New Era, FUEL TV and TransWorld Media. Check out the pics after the jump.
Roxy and Paper Magazine teamed up last night to premier the new Roxy surf film Dear and Yonder by Tiffany Campbell and Adria Lessler. Throwing a block party at Mollusk Surf Shop and Secret Project Robot in Williamsburg, it had both things a surf party should – endless beer and beautiful surf chicks. Roxy ripper Kassia Meador was on hand with an exhibition of her photos and there was even a full live set by Amanda Blank. Check out a gang of photos after the jump.
K2 and Original Penguin had a launch party for their board/boot/binding collab this Wednesday at the brand new Standard Hotel in NYC. The party was fire, although perhaps the least bro-brah in the history of snowboarding parties, with top notch accouterments and a high concentration of beautiful people. The K2 crew held it down and Eero Niemela was in the house to co-sign for the Slayblade, which he’ll be shredding this year. “Its a stiff, fast board,” he said, “I’m stoked to be riding it.” The Penguin-inspired graphics, although still kind of random, look good on the product – it will be interesting to see who picks up this setup this year. More pics after the jump.
We brought you those sick WE Skate-Hi’s done up by Hush, now check out out his latest creation – the DC Howard Dunks. Wanting to recreate one of his favorite DC kicks, Hush flipped a cowskin suede upper with ballistic mesh and 3M accents, borrowed some eyelets from an Air Max 1 and put them on a Dunk sole. It’s pretty safe to say, this dude is a genius! More looks after the jump.
