Clearly not content to let his Street Dreams co-star take all the plaza shine, P-Rod is opening his own skate plaza in LA this Sunday on Go Skateboarding Day. Co-designed by Joe Ciaglia of California Skateparks and Lance Mountain, the Paul Rodriguez Skate Park at Ritchie Valens Public Park in Pacoima, California is not only a mouthful, it’s meant to recreate some legendary skate spots in a legal setting. This is what P-Rod had to say about it.
“I wish I was 15 again so that I could grow up with such amazing terrain nearby,” said Rodriguez, Jr. “If you wanted to, you could film here—there is no difference between this park and a real spot. For example, the ditch at the end of the path is a re-creation of the Griffith Park run-off ditch, and the blue handrails in the plaza are replicas of the nearby Sylmar rails that are no longer skate-able.”
P-Rod will be christening the park from noon-2pm. Go here or here for more info. Full invite after the jump.
