The new skate eyewear brand 9five have released their Spring 2009 collection. While the Major and the Cult Classic are good takes on the classic aviator and Wayfarer styles, the Butters is definitely a champagne and terry cloth banger built for rooftop mayhem sessions. 9five Eyewear officially drops on March 15, check their site for retailers. Rob Dyrdek, who also launched a new website this month, will be on hand to open the Lafayette Safe Spot Skate Spot in LA today. The Altamont Skateboard Team is taking an epic tour from LA to Austin with the bands No Age and The Goat & The Occasional Others. The goal is to get the bands there by SXSW. But with Andrew Reynolds, Bryan Herman, Brian “Slash” Hansen, Garrett Hill, Kenny Hoyle, Sammy Baca, Justin Figueroa and Theotis Beasley on board, who knows what might happen. The 2009 Oakley Arctic Challenge Highest Air competition was held today at Linderudkollen in Oslo Norway. Despite high expectations for someone to break event founder Terje Haakonsen’s world record of 9.8 meters, heavy snow conditions slowed the run-in of the quarter pipe preventing riders from attaining the amplitude necessary to contest the record. Continuing his win streak after taking the RedBull Snowscrapers event two weeks ago, New Jersey’s Shayne Pospisil took the sword and $12,500 with an air of 6.8 meters.
