To coincide with the launch of their new 2012 website, Foursquare has pioneered a photographic journey into snowboarding featuring first of its kind action imagery and a corresponding video called The Wetplate Project. Photographer Ian Ruhter creates each image on location by mixing Collodion, iodizes, bromides, ether, alcohol, silver nitrate, ferrous sulfate, and acids while applying them to a metal or glass plate. The final product is a one-of-a-kind original that cannot be matched by any other photographic process of our day. Check out Andreas Wiig in the first of five videos.
You’re gonna need some big shoulders to fill this Viking’s coat, but if you think you can wield it, Andreas Wiig is hooking somebody up with an autographed jacket. Hit up the Foursquare Facebook page until May 7th and post something eloquent about your love of jackets to try to be that special someone.
TTR just released this video of Andreas Wiig’s insane frontside 1080 double flip at the Billabong Air & Style last week. What’s even crazier is that this only earned him 3rd place after Marko Grilc and Peetu Piroiinen who knocked out a switch backside 1080 double cork mute and a backside 1080 double cork mute respectively. Apparently hucking huge is back in this year.
Andreas Wiig continues to make move this week with the announcement that he is on Foursquare and now head to toe in The Program. When you envision the endless possibilities of throwing the mighty Viking into sessions with the likes of Peter Line, Eddie Wall, and Pat Moore it makes you less bummed that they used just about the same pic for both announcements. Just kidding, we’re not bummed.
Norway’s crown jewel shred event, The Arctic Challenge, is set to pop off in Oslo on the 2nd and 3rd of January, 2010. Departing from the Quarterpipe format of last year, TAC is going slopestyle this year and they’ve just released some renderings of the course. Designed by Claes Högström with input from Torstein Horgmo and Andreas Wiig, it definitely looks official. Check out the rest of the course after the jump.
Just a few seasons ago, the future of Forum was dicey at best, but with 2010 about to drop things have come full circle. Forum Forever has been killing it and now Peter Line, Eddie Wall, Pat Moore, Jake Welch, Stevie Bell, John Jackson, Nic Sauvé and Daniel Ek have a new homie to shred with, and his name is Andreas Wiig. That’s major. In Andreas’ own words, “It’s going to be good times.”
Speaking of Darrell Mathes and his new company Masa…Masa was conceived last year by Darrell’s lifelong homie Chris Prosser of Atmosphere who had a moment of enlightenment while listening to Wu tang’s “Protect Ya Neck.” He realized that even though some companies were making them, there wasn’t a dedicated brand making “sick ass” neck gaiters. One call to Darrell and it was a done deal. Not even out the box yet, the Masa team consists of Andreas Wiig, Justin Bennee, Kyle Clancy, Doran Laybourn, and Nima Jalali, in addition to Mathes. Expect some product peeks very soon.
