RedBull popped off a dope “downhill” street contest in Berlin last weekend which was promptly won by none other than Shane O’Neill. Not the easiest feat considering he had tough competition including Chris Pfanner, Lem Villemin, Benny Fairfax and more. Peep the winning recap above.

ellesse heritage has released a suprisingly rad short film as part of their City Portraits series. The video, directed by Konstantinos Menelaou follows a day in the life of an anonymous musician/sound engineer/skateboarder who demonstrates why Berlin is easily a top 5 city in the world.

ShredorDie has a cool edit from the Birdhouse team’s World Tour demo in Germany at Berlin’s sick facility, Skate Halle. Berlin is definitely getting close to Barcelona as the top destination to shred in Europe.

This weekend, Freestyle Berlin drew 13,000 people for a combo big air/FMX/halfpipe event at Berlin’s famous Tempelhof Airport. When it was all said and done, Candian Seb Toutant shredded away with the snowboard title, France’s Jean Postec grabbed the skateboard crown and hometown FMX’er Busty Wolter definitely took the crowd appreciation award. The backdrop of one of the world’s largest structures by area, as well as the particular Berliner vibe made for some great images on Saturday although things were mellowed out by the rain. The cold and rain didn’t stop many people from coming out to the opening of the Nike SB Pop Up store in Mitte, Berlin this weekend. Germany’s skate elite was in the house to check out photographer Alex Flach’s ill photos of the German SB team tours in Tokyo, Cairo, Cape Town and Dubai, and for free Becks and vodka. Monster and LoDown magazines were there as was Nike snowboarder Gigi Ruf. Even Chris Haslam showed up, having just finished a Globe trip and now embarking on a two week personal “learn German” tour. True story. The Nike SB Pop Up Berlin will be open for three months and will feature a rotating selection of in-line and exclusive models, including several from the vaults. Solebox Berlin has issued a release date for the coming Asics Gel Lyte III collaboration sneaker – Aug 23. The shoe of course follows in the tradition purple shades that are typical of the Solebox releases. A great look for this Asics standard.
