After teaming up at the beginning of the snowboard season to produce the Burton x Nokia Insulator Case which we can say from experience actually works both in keeping your battery alive and in making your phone visible on the hill after it decides to jump out of your pocket after you’ve had a few brews, the companies have announced the launch of the Burton x Nokia App. The app allows you to “get the latest snow forecast for over 2600 resorts worldwide, capture and share your epic moves with the first image sequencer for Windows Phone 8, ride while listening to Burton’s own Tune UP playlists, and even watch Burton Open Events right from your Nokia Lumia phone.” How does it work? We’re on our way to the Burton US Open right now, so will let you know soon enough, aight?!
With a lot to show and prove at the all new Burton US Open at Vail, Burton has announced the entertainment lineup prior to the event, something they were reticent to do in VT as demand for the shows could frequently outweigh Stratton’s capacity. Scheduled to play free are Santigold, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Scratch Bastid, and Cosmo Baker, which should provide for a lively time. Hit up Burton’s US Open site for show times and details.
Straight up and down, this may be the dopest collabo coming down the pipe for next season. Burton and OG Canadian mukluk brand Manitobah have come together for the Memento boot. Totally ridable. If your girl isn’t rocking these next season, you need a new girl. Hit the jump for a couple more looks.
We recently spotted this BUrton x Lifebeat collab board at SIA Snow Show in Denver. Lifebeat, a national non-profit that uses music to raise awareness and funds in the fight against HIV/AIDS teamed up with conic female hip-hop group Salt N Pepa and the result is dope as hell.
So as of 11:11am we seem to still be alive and blogging. We’re not really sure what form this apocalyptic transformation is going to come in but Burton has a pretty rad take on it. Boom!
In the Spring of this year Danny teamed up with Mountain Dew and Burton to build a one-of-a-kind pipe / park hybrid like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Snow Park Technologies crafted the pipe and topped it off with a channel, wall ride, volcano, C boxes, and rails built in. Built in Northstar this past May, Danny opened up the pipe to nine friends including Jack Mitrani, Kevin Pearce, Terje Haakonsen, Mikkel Bang, Mark McMorris, Christian Haller, Pat Moore, and Austen Sweetin for a day of shredding and grilling.
Skateboarding and snowboarding collide with the release of the “Joystick “series of snowboards by Burton featuring images from New York City skateboard photography book Full Bleed. Burton’s Soho Flagship store hosted TheGoodLife! produced launch event for the 2013 collaboration where guests enjoyed treats from The Meatball Shop with drinks from PBR, Smirnoff, and music by DJ Smoke L.E.S.. The Crosby Press was in the mix and got a chance to connect with the books creator, Alex Corporan and Radcollector’s Brad Clarke for their thoughts about the epic night. Peep the edit and go here to see the pics.
Although the shortest days of the year already seem pretty short, they seem even shorter in when you’re in Alaska. Working all day and night for days straight probably made the days start to feel pretty long for Jeremy Jones, Zak Hale, Ethan Diess, and Alex Andrews, but they did get a lot done while they were there.
Louie Vito doesn’t ride for Burton but that doesn’t mean he can’t get his very own custom pair of Malavita bindings. Look for these 1 of 1 “Mala Vito” bindings at halfpipes and dance-offs worldwide this season.
Burton and G-Shock have joined forces to bring you an indestructible digital snowboard watch, the GDF-100. The black rubber watch sports turquoise accents, a Cordura nylon strap and Burton logo on case and backlight. Obviously the timepiece measures temperature, pressure, altitude and anything else you may need on the mountain. Look for the GDF-100 to drop in November and hit the jump for some more looks.
