Yesterday we had the privilege of attending the opening of Burton’s new state of the art R&D facilities in Burlington, VT. Named after the late great Craig Kelly for his passion for progressing the sport, the facility allows Burton to take feedback from riders and use their custom technology to create prototypes and test them on the snow the very next day. We’re talking about some straight up futuristic Jetson type capabilities. Kodak has just announced its new partnership with Burton snowboards and the release of the Kodak Playsport video camera, Burton edition. This updated version of the Playsport features an orange pixilated design resembling the Burton Custom 154 Snowboard along with an arm/leg holster strap and remote. Available now at Kodak.com.
Burton announced today that Mini will be taking over as the presenting sponsor of the Burton Global Open Series. Consisting of the European Open (January 8-15 in Laax, Switzerland), the Canadian Open (February 1-6 at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary), and the US Open (March 7-13 in Stratton, Vermont) the events will be used as a a marketing platform for the new Mini Countryman crossover SUV. Mini takes over from Volvo which had been the major sponsor of the series for the last several years.
