Big ups are in order to Garrett Reynolds who snatched up his second consecutive Street Rider of the Year award at the 2009 Nora Awards in Las Vegas. He also picked up Best Video Part for Nike 6.0′s Writing on the Wall, which also won best video. This is this kid’s year. In addition to last night’s big wins, Garrett won his 7th X Games Gold medal for BMX Street, has a show on MTV2 and is currently leading the Dew Tour Park standings.
If they are actually ever to move past Kanye-gate, MTV looks like they may have some watchable programming on their hands with “5 Months to Freedom,” a reality show featuring Garrett Reynolds and Dennis Enarson. More than just a day-in-the-life type thing, “5 Months to Freedom” specifically tracks both athlete’s difficult process of trying to finish high school while a life of money, fame, and mad shorties beckons with every contest win and team tour. The show debuts this Saturday night at 10pm on MTV2. Some behind the scenes stills after the jump.

Nike 6.0 BMX has joined the fight against the planet’s over reliance on gasoline by teaming up with Beat Gasoline, an organization trying to reduce gas use. To launch their campaign they dropped this rad PSA of Dennis Enarson, Garrett Reynolds, Nigel Sylvester, and Mike Spinner ripping around London and demonstrating what we all know is true: skating or riding any city is way more fun than driving a car. They are also running a contest for the best home made videos illustrating this point. Winners will get product and a donation to charities of their choice. Go here to enter.
Garrett Reynolds and Nigel Sylvester were just over in China showing heads how its supposed to be done at the Kia X Games Asia and Nike 6.0 has released this dope little edit to show us how it all went down.
