In some less rad news, we felt compelled to post this mind boggling video of ABC News’ ridiculously ignorant coverage of Kevin Pearce’s injury that frames the entire sport of snowboarding as one giant accident waiting to happen. On top of that they make it seem like snowboarders are still a brainless lot pushing themselves into injuries because they don’t know any better. Disgusting. Check out more commentary on Boardistan.

This isn’t major news but worth the mention on principal. The esteemed blog The Huffington Post interviewed Kevin Pearce last week, which is all well and good. KP is blowing up like Nitro. Word. Problem is that the Huffington blogger chose the lamest, circa ‘82 stereotypical preface she possibly could: assuming Kevin was dumb because he shreds. Check it out.
“I have to admit that when I was offered the chance to interview Kevin, I had some preconceived notions. When someone tells you that you just have to interview this incredible 21-year-old snowboarder, lots of things pop into your head. Things like, “This may be a tough interview filled with one-word answers … one-word answers that may often include the word ‘dude.’”
Nice story arc Erica Boeke. Apparently it’s a miracle when shredders can speak. Read the whole thing here.
There have been rumors swirling for a minute but it’s totally official, Kevin Pearce is on Nike 6.0. The once and future hero of shred joins the squad just in time for the road to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Expect some sick things ahead from this partnership.
Snowboarding is about to get a lot more interesting. The Frends crew got a big writeup in the New York Times this weekend and Kevin Pearce and Mason Aguirre finally said what everyone had figured: the Frends ain’t friends with Shaun White. Pearce goes all in, “I feel the last couple years, Shaun has kind of dominated snowboarding. I think that people are getting sick of it, and they’re getting sick of seeing him.” Is it really beef or well executed pre Olympic hype? We’ll have to wait and see. Read the entire story here.
