Radcollector fam and NYC fixture Mel D. Cole has been a rising star in the photography world for more than a minute and has captured some of the raddest interactions between action sports and pop culture. The latest validation of his well deserved success comes in the form of this dope spot from Complex and Levi’s. “Something from Nothing,” that’s the name of the game.

The celebration for the Nike x Levi’s® 511™ Skateboarding collaboration continued last week with another exclusive launch party, this time in Los Angeles in partnership with The Berrics. Aside from Braydon Szafranski and Paul Rodriguez in attendance, Omar Salazar was of course also in the building, as he played an integral role in this rather unique collaborative project of the Collection. The skate pro attended the festivities and also demonstrated some of his skills, skating the park during the launch event. As if all of that wasn’t enough, the open bar by Pabst Blue Ribbon, burritos from Wahoo’s Fish Taco Truck and local band Trash Talk sealed the deal. The result was a massive line around the block all day, with kids eager to get in on the action.

Levi’s held an event last weekend to launch a the “SF/LA” project, an artistic collaboration between the two legends that uses text to compare and contrast the respective capitals of NoCal and SoCal. Check out some more looks at this interesting idea after the jump.

Right on the heels of their massive Super Nova box with New Balance, 686 has dropped another one, this time with their denim partner Levi’s. Ten special collabo boxes were made and stuffed with their 3-ply raw denim technical snowboard pant collabo turned up with neon orange and turquoise accents. This video about the dope 686 x Levi’s riding denim collabo is buried a bit on the 686 site and hasn’t really been seen much. Watch as 686 Creative Director Mike West chops it up with Levi’s Global VP of Creative Design Caroline Calvin and gives some insight into how the project came to be and what some of the inspiration was. British BMX legend Jamie Bestwick has been competing in the X Games since 1996 but hasn’t slowed down one bit. As you can see in this new Day In The Life edit from Monster, he’s actually sped up and now rips motorcycles with the same ease. Via The Come Up.

This is hilarious! Levi’s is hosting the 3rd Annual Powersliding Championships at the Santa Monica Pier next Wednesday, April 15. What is powersliding you ask? Well if you don’t know its a super rad mix of skateboarding and parkour without all the nerdy parkour stuff where dudes trick off rails and boxes using only their jeans. A look at this video should clear up any confusion.

The 3rd Annual Powersliding Championships will feature a street course complete with a 40 ft, four story rail and multiple fun boxes, a live show from Matt & Kim, Kogu Korean BBQ trucks and never-shying-from-the-spotlight “celebs” like Jonny Moseley, Wee Man and Kendra Wilkinson, one of Hugh Hefner’s broads. We recently showed you the 686 x New Balance collab that has a lot of people talking. Keeping it heavy on the collab tip, 686 has also updated their partnership with Levi’s for 2009/10. From the flagship 3-Ply Process Jacket and 514 3-Ply Pant which boast 20,000mm waterproofing and 15,000gm of breathabilty down to gloves, hoodies and tees, its going to be hard to associate riding in jeans with Jersey anymore.
