Last week the beautiful island of Jamaica & the Jamaican Surfing Association hosted the 6th annual Makka Pro surf competition in Southaven, Yallahs, St. Thomas. We were lucky enough to get an invite from the Jamaica Tourism Board to experience the diverse and vibrant culture along with top notch surfing that attracts competitors and spectators from Trinidad, Barbados, Martinique, United States of America, Philippines, Chile and Venezuela. With this being the only surf competition on the island, we were blown away by the level of talent, skill, and dedication the young Jamaican surfers have and we’re eager to see how they progress as the tournament grows each year. Hit the jump for a rad gallery of photos from the Makka Pro and stayed tuned for a part two recap that showcases the event organizers, surfers, judges, and more. Photos by Brad Clarke.
