For some reason it just felt like a good idea to start today with some inspiration. Here is the Gonz x Spike Jonze from 1991’s “Video Days.” That’s almost 7 minutes of zen. Ommm.
Concepts in Boston just got these three new Krooked decks in today. The Gonz did up portraits of himself, Dan Drehobl, and Bobby Worrest for the series and you have to say, they are pretty spot on. Concepts is located at 37 Brattle St in Cambrige Mass.
As part of some updates to their site, adidas Skateboarding has dropped this sick new clip, “Frisco Stand Up.” Reconfirming both the fact that SF is skate paradise and adidas has one of the sickest teams out there, the video leaves one fact with the ability to elude complete understanding, how is the Gonz still so rad? Peep the whole thing here.
If you haven’t peeped it yet, the trailer for Gang of Fourstar’s ‘Four’n Legion Tour’ is summer shredding in Europe at its finest. England, Sweden, France, and Germany + Max, Rick, Nick, Sean, Tyler, Lucas, Guy, Mike, Brian, Mark, and Andrew = Rad. Look for the Gang of Fourstar full length video coming this fall.
As an exclusive for Agenda, Krooked decided to do a super limited run of 333 of this Mark Gonzales deck. Only retailers attending the show have a chance to get these and when the run is sold out, it’s a wrap. Comes with a special pair of glasses. Take a look at the top after the jump.
As you know, the Gonz opened his show “SouthWest,” curated by Emma Reeves, at Half Gallery in NYC last night. Radcollector friend and contributor, Michael Cohen, was on hand and took a couple flicks. That’s the Gonz and Shut founder Rodney Smith demonstrating the pleasures of reaching OG status in the game. Check out some more pics after the jump.
If you are in the Big Apple tonight, you’re in luck cause the Gonz is on town too and throwing an opening for his exhibition of new works, “SouthWest.” Yep you can go rub arms with the legend at Half Gallery in the LES from 6 to 8pm. If you aren’t yet in town, fret not, the exhibition is running all the way until August 2, so you’ve got some time. Half Gallery is located at 208 Forsyth street.
Ever wondered what a day in the life of living skate legend and artist Mark Gonzales might look like? Fourstar just uploaded this piece to help your imagination. Here’s how he spent just one of those days in the forty years that he’s been on this Earth.
Nice video by the Adidas Skate Team hitting the streets of Mexico City last year. Check Mark Gonzales, Dennis Busenitz, Tim O’Connor, Dave Bachinsky, Benny Fairfax, Lem Villemin and the rest of the pack going crazy like jalapeño.
It’s the legendary San Francisco leap, the big four set that became history when Mark Gonzales first ollied it in 1991 for his part in Blind Skateboard’s “Video Days”. Many after him tried, failed, gave blood, survived – or succeeded… Andrew “The Boss” Reynolds flipped it frontside and backside, Chris Cole did a TreFlip and Darrell Stanton switch BS 180′d it. Since the Wallenberg School re-profiled the run up from the nearby Vega Street, the spot, or at least the big four, became nearly unskateable as skaters aren’t able to gain enough speed to jump the 6 x 18 feet. Once again, Thrasher Magazine sets up a roll-in to host the “Back To The Berg” contest at the infamous spot, inviting a good bunch of today’s top notch skaters to jump it. The winning move will be worth 10.000$ while the first girl to jump the set will get a grand. The event will take place on May 30th.
