Cole has been a rising star in the photography world for more than a minute and has captured some of the raddest interactions between action sports and pop culture. The latest validation of his well deserved success comes in the form of this dope spot from Complex and Levi’s. “Something from Nothing,” that’s the name of the game.
Radcollector’s Tim Brodhagen sat down with the most hustling music lifestyle photogapher of our time, Village Slum’s Mel D Cole to talk about how he got to where he’s at and the stories behind three of his all time favorite photographs: Diddy, ?uestlove, and Kid Cudi.
Airwalk, who are showing no signs of weakness in their quest to regain the brand’s once legendary status, threw a launch party last week for Already Famous with a mini ramp and performance by Mellow Hype that will undoubtedly reign as their best event yet since relaunching. Trouble Andrew took it to another level with his “Album Leak” party for “Dreams of a Trouble Man” at Don Hills in NYC. Featuring performances by Rocky Business, Telli from Ninjasonik, Johnny Nelson, Boy n Girl and more, as well as stripper poles, a rainbow coalition of gorgeous girls, and most of the downtown massive, the party was crunk rock to the fullest. From a free flowing open bar to DJ Clark Kent on the mix to a bevy of chocolate beauties writhing on the dancefloor, he’ll be hard pressed to outdo this one. Although he’s had more “day in the life” videos than almost any athlete out there, when you have a life like Nigel Sylvester, there’s never a shortage of material for another. Nigel’s latest “Go All Day” from Gatorade is by far the raddest yet. From shredding mad spots in the city to an impromptu photo shoot at 21 Mercer with none other than Mel D. Cole to a late night wile out at BOB, Nigel gets it in.
