0219 scotty lago splash Scotty Lago Sent Home From Olympics
In some serious bullshit, Scotty Lago got bounced from the Olympics today because of this picture that showed up on TMZ this morning. The official word that was just circulated says Lago volunteered to leave and miss the closing ceremonies but word around town is that the IOC wanted to take his medal away and going home was a compromise. Seriously, on the scandal scale, this pic rates like a 2 and to fuck a 22 year old kid over for something as PG as a little medal biting is ridiculous. Rad Collector is in Vancouver right now and can tell you that what’s happening across this whole city all day and night during the games is a lot more obscene than this. It’s a further mistreatment of snowboarding and snowboarding culture that doesn’t want or need to adhere to archaic Olympic jock standards. Snowboarding is supposed to be fun. shaun 540x456 Shaun White Wins Olympic Gold
In what was not a surprise but was still pretty rad to see, Shaun White murdered it at the Olympics in Vancouver tonight. After mostly everyone sketched out on their second run, including Scotty Lago who held on for a bronze, Shaun had the win in the bag but still went buck wild on his victory lap, throwing the 1260 Tomahawk and beating his first run score with a 48.4 out of 50. Peetu Piiroinen took the silver. Read the blow by blow on ESPN.

olympians1 588x375 540x344 US Olympic Snowboard Team Announced
The US Olympic Snowboard team was announced last night following the final stop of the Grand Prix series in Park City, Utah. For the women, it was a straight repeat of four years ago with Kelly Clark, Hannah Teter, and Gretchen Bleiler taking the top three positions. For the men, shoo-in Shaun White was joined by Louie Vito and Scotty Lago in receiving the plaid uniform for Vancouver. One additional team member for both men and women will be announced tomorrow but between Shaun and Kelly’s aerial dominance, it doesn’t really seem like anyone else has a chance at the gold. Rad Collector - Frends Crew New York Times Profile
Snowboarding is about to get a lot more interesting. The Frends crew got a big writeup in the New York Times this weekend and Kevin Pearce and Mason Aguirre finally said what everyone had figured: the Frends ain’t friends with Shaun White. Pearce goes all in, “I feel the last couple years, Shaun has kind of dominated snowboarding. I think that people are getting sick of it, and they’re getting sick of seeing him.” Is it really beef or well executed pre Olympic hype? We’ll have to wait and see. Read the entire story here.
