The celebration for the Nike x Levi’s® 511™ Skateboarding collaboration continued last week with another exclusive launch party, this time in Los Angeles in partnership with The Berrics. Aside from Braydon Szafranski and Paul Rodriguez in attendance, Omar Salazar was of course also in the building, as he played an integral role in this rather unique collaborative project of the Collection. The skate pro attended the festivities and also demonstrated some of his skills, skating the park during the launch event. As if all of that wasn’t enough, the open bar by Pabst Blue Ribbon, burritos from Wahoo’s Fish Taco Truck and local band Trash Talk sealed the deal. The result was a massive line around the block all day, with kids eager to get in on the action.

P-Rod continues his footwear evolution with the P-Rod VI, his latest pro model and the shoe that just won him X Games gold this past weekend. The VI takes advantage of Nike tech like Lunarlon and Diamond Flex packaged in a sturdy silhouette that pays homage to P-Rod’s of the past. The P-Rod VI is in stores now. More looks after the jump.

Opening just in time to service the hordes of skate rats who will be descending on the newly refurbished Nike Skatepark at Coleman Park comes Labor, a new shop on Canal street between Ludlow and Orchard. Hidden beneath a sign for the now defunct Moon Coach, Labor is run by James Rewolinski and carries a nice selection of hard and softgoods with a particular nod to local brand 5boro. The New York Times has a great informative article and video on skateboarding in Afghanistan and an Aussie who established the first skate school in Kabul. It is definitely worth checking out and great seeing the power of skating in such a country.

Next to the purple Blazer High SB this month, Nike has another Quickstrike aligned for January 2008. The P-Rod High comes in a medium brown houndstooth colorway. Overall definitely a nice colorway for the cold weeks that we still have to go through before Spring hits.

With the buzz that has built around Supra as fashion footwear core skate roots can sometimes slip the mind. There latest collaborative duo of sneakers gets right to the point, as they’ve worked with Deathwish Skateboards. Two shoes fold into the line up, a version of the Diablo (above) and a striking red version of the Suprano hi. (via Complex).

Etnies and Electronic Arts Inc. have worked together to bring the etnies GvR skateboarding contest to the Skate 2 video game, and to create an etnies Skate 2 RVM shoe for real world skateboarding. The etnies RVM Skate 2 shoe will be available when the game hits stores late January 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Drawing inspiration from etnies skate heritage, the RVM features the classic etnies Rap styling with a slimmed down mid-top silhouette on a vulcanized outsole and a tonal Skate 2 logo on the outer heel. The RVM also features STI System G2 gel in the heel of the outsole to absorb shock and prevent heel bruises. The shoe will be sold at Zumiez in the United States, and it will be available at select retailers internationally.

Amid a sea of foreclosures, advantageous skateboarders in Southern California have discovered a bright side. There is an almost endless concrete wave of abandoned pools. “Skaters Jump In as Foreclosures Drain The Pool” in today’s New York Times gives an account of a how skaters track new empties, and is accompanied by a few choice images. Draining pools provides an important service as well, clearing out often bacteria filled still water.

eS got together with Krooked this season to work on the Square One sneaker, the same model we have already seen these past weeks in the eS x Livestock x The Hundreds collaboration.

The eS x Krooked Square one comes in black suede with contrast stitching and features both brand logos on the tongue tag. On the back it features a small Mark Gonzales graphic embroidery. It is now available at Slam City Skates.
