The art community got together this weekend for an auction to benefit Skateistan, the amazing organization bringing skateboarding to the youth of Afghanistan amidst the chaos constantly gripping that nation. Artists and designers like Leon Reid IV, Olafur Eliasson, Mike Perry, Klutch, Royce Bannon, Celso, Infinity, Chris from Robots Will Kill, Cake, and many more donated works including this skate deck from Abe Lincoln Jr. To bid on a piece go here.

Afghanistan’s first skateboarding school, Skateistan, continues to find support from around the world. It was profiled in the NY Times a couple of months ago and now the Skateistan Fundraiser is happening at the Copenhagen Skatepark on Thursday March 12. Sponsored by Tuborg and Eastpack, along with Vans, Skull Candy, DVS, and Carhartt, the event will be a full day of music, skateboarding, food and an art auction with skateboards painted by Olafur Eliasson, Tal R, Todd James, Steven Powers, Justin B Williams and Cody Hudson.
