On Monday, November 7th, Stoked and Mountain Dew are teaming up with Paul Rodriguez, Nigel Sylvester, Alex Corporan, and 5Boro’s Steve Rodriguez and Mark Nardelli for After School with Paul Rodriguez & Friends, an inspirational event for youth in New York City. There will be video screenings, product giveaways, talks by the athletes and veteran NYC skate community members mentioned above, and music by DJ C-Lo. The event is open to youth of all ages at New York City College of Technology in Downtown Brooklyn from 4 to 6 pm.
Stoked, one of our favorite youth organizations, has just launched their new website for the 2011 Stoked Awards and this year, they’re honoring P-Rod with the Stoked Achievement Award. The website features information about the event and the other honorees, and will soon announce some rad auction items that will be available for bidding prior to the event. Last night, Stoked held their annual auction and fundraiser, Stoked on Spring, at DRIVE IN to support its New York City action sports youth programs. The event featured a live and silent auction of donated art from emerging and established artists, including Willem de Kooning, Spencer Tunick, Purvis Young, Jayson Atienza, Craig Wetherby, and Wyatt Neumann. This Wednesday, May 25th, Stoked is hosting its fourth annual Stoked on Spring auction and benefit at DRIVE IN at 443 West 18th Street between 9th & 10th Avenue in NYC. The event will be hosted by Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition model Christine Teigen and ESPN Road Trip Host Jonathan Drubner, and is auctioning off art by Jayson Atienza, Ivory Serra, Robert Longo, Suhee Wooh, Willem de Kooning, Wyatt Newmann, and Rad Collector Columnist Craig Wetherby, whose Dead Raccoon photo is featured above. Our favorite youth organization, Stoked will be sponsoring the annual Belleayre Rail Jam at Belleayre Mountain on Saturday, January 29th from 11:00am-2:00pm. During the day Stoked will be hosting a raffle with prizes including Burton Snowboards, limited edition signed Zoo York decks, and much more goodies. Now in its fifth year of operation, Stoked, our favorite youth organization, is having its annual fundraiser and award ceremony, the Stoked Awards, on Wednesday, November 10th at the Red Bull Space. This year’s Stoked Awards will be honoring Mazdack Rassi, Founder and Creative Director of Milk Studios, with the Stoked Achievement Award for his years of support for the organization. Other awardees include the Mentoring Pair of the Year Airen Renner and Jose Rios, Volunteer of the Year Rita Wadhwani, and Appreciation Award recipient Meg Gilsten Hale. DJ Brooklyn Dawn will be holding down the music all night and rumor has it that the VIP gift bags are gonna be dope! The always rad surf/snow/skate mentoring organization, Stoked partnered with Nike this summer for the 6.0 Days of Stoked, a 6 week program that brought kids from inner city Los Angeles to the surf mecca of Huntington Beach to immerse them in the world of surf journalism. With little or no experience with either surfing or journalism, the kids bonded with the waves and each other to produce a 16 page magazine that even inspired US Open of Surf junior champ Evan Geiselman to donate his winnings to the cause.
