The rad thing about X Games is that after months of hype, the actual games blaze by in one mega weekend. Starting our update on the winners, check out Torstein Horgmo’s switch backside triple cork, which he stomped flawlessly on his way to a gold medal. Mark McMorris and Stale Sandbech rounded out the top three.
Torstein Horgmo is ready for the spotlight. Having quietly stacked a grip of major wins over the last several years of his career, the Norwegian ripper with a name too hard for the American public to pronounce is saying fuck it and dropping in hard with Horgasm: A Love Story. The solo shred flick drops October 29th, we think its gonna be rad.
Radcollector homie Deadlung faced off against X Games superchamp Torstein Horgmo for a game of In Your Face at Snowbird recently. Although flat light made for slightly less ambitious competition, Deadlung gets in a righteous shot to Torstein in the end.
Peetu Piiroinen made history yesterday by winning the Oakley Arctic Challenge in Oslo and clinching the overall TTR title for the second straight year. The double win comes right on the heels of his silver medal in Vancouver. Yeah you could say the kid is having a good year. Homeland favorites Torstein Horgmo and Mikkel Bang took second and third. Read the whole story on ESPN and check out a rad photo gallery by Matt Murray after the jump.
In other competition news, Torstein Horgmo took the top slopestyle spot at the Mt Dew tour this weekend, his second consecutive win at the Mt Snow stop. After dropping a frontside 1080, a switch backside twelve and a backside ten late cork on the DC x Neff board we leaked a couple weeks ago, Torstein took the money and ran with pans to ditch the contest bib for hardcore filming for the rest of the year. Full Dew results here.
Torstein Horgmo just dropped this sick helmet cam video from one of his slopestyle runs at the Dew Tour stop at Snow Basin this month. Obviously the shit is incredible but what makes this so much radder is that Halldor Helgason is on the mic commentating the whole thing.
Rad Collector got a super sneak preview of the upcoming DC x Neff snowboard on the hill in Utah today. DC supershred Torstein Horgmo was rocking the 2011 deck at Park City. Cue the Miami Vice theme song.
The DC Team has been ripping it all over and making dope little webisodes for us to get stoked on. Here peep Lauri Heiskari, Aaron Bittner, Chas Guldemond, Torstein Horgmo, and Kimmy Fasani doing Northstar up properly. Iikka Backstrom was also at the session but didn’t make it through til the end for reasons explained above.
Continuing to achieve some pretty epic career “firsts” during the course of his Fuel show “Tracking Eero,” Eero Ettala got to pop off his first heli mission while in British Columbia last year as he shredded with Danny Kass and Torstein Horgmo. Everything was lovely until the trees attacked. “Tracking Eero” runs on Fuel on Sundays at 8:30 on both coasts.
Norway’s crown jewel shred event, The Arctic Challenge, is set to pop off in Oslo on the 2nd and 3rd of January, 2010. Departing from the Quarterpipe format of last year, TAC is going slopestyle this year and they’ve just released some renderings of the course. Designed by Claes Högström with input from Torstein Horgmo and Andreas Wiig, it definitely looks official. Check out the rest of the course after the jump.
