Upper Playground has an interesting late winter/early spring release with their retro ski frames, the Downhill Collection. Meant to emulate the eyewear from Ski School culture of the late 80’s and early 90’s, only 10 pairs of the red, white, and blue and 20 pairs of the black are are available here. Each season superFishal introduces a new series of three collaborative board graphics which are screenprinted in small limited editions. The concept is to take two artists with completely different styles and have them converge to make a really unique board graphic. This Fall/Winter season sees Jeremy Fish collide with skater/artist Andy Howell to form ‘The Spirit’ deck, which features a couple of Jeremy’s classic figures set in a back drop of Howell’s intricate brush strokes. In his collaboration with Mike Giant entitled ‘The Serpent’ we see Jeremy’s style mashed into Mike’s tattoo based creations. And Jeremy’s conspiring with Scrawl Collective’s WIll Barras leads to a board called ‘The Stack’ which features the motorcycle version of Noah’s Ark.

Jeremy Fish’s most recent New Era collaboration has also arrived. The “Bunny Head” generated some smiles amongst the crew when we were at MAGIC. It is a genuinely amusing design.

This is the second series of an ongoing collaboration of screenprinted skate decks between Jeremy Fish and various artists. All decks are sold in a set of three and signed by Jeremy Fish himself. Only 300 of each design have been produced, even fewer have been signed.
In this deck series Jeremy Fish worked with some fellow artists on the deck graphics. The line-up includes Sam Flores, Matt Irving of Delphi Collective and Travis Millard.
The deck set is now available in the Upper Playground Online Store for 210 USD.

Upper Playground is releasing an exclusive sneaker series with adidas Originals next week. The new shoe line features four signature designs from fine artists Sam Flores, David Choe, Herbert Baglione, and hip hop artist Aesop Rock.

Beginning July 17, 2008, Upper Playground will release a new sneaker every Thursday. Each sneaker design will be available for sale at Upper Playground retail stores and online at beginning at 8 am PST. Each pair of sneakers will retail for $150.00.

The new sneaker series is not the first time Upper Playground has collaborated with adidas Originals. In 2005, Upper Playground partnered with adidas Originals to create a limited-edition BBQ themed sneaker in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the adidas Superstar.

Born in Belgrade Serbia, street photographer Boogie possesses a rare talent for documenting the human condition. His black and white photographs capture the character and the inhabitants of some of the most tumultuous cities in the world.
Traditionally photojournalism focuses more on content–recording a moment or an event–and less upon formal concerns. However, Boogie gracefully integrates both a documentarian’s eye with a finely honed artistic sensibility. Many of his images are at once deeply poignant, and totally unsettling.
Boogie’s work has taken him from Serbia, to Cuba and throughout South America. In his new book, Sao Paulo, he features his remarkable impressions from one of Brazil’s poorest and most troubled urban metropolises. Boogie has also produced a new skate deck featuring his photography.

Upper Playground in association with superFishal announces the launch of three new graphic skateboards created by artist, Jeremy Fish. Each season, superFishal will offer a series of screen printed decks in which each graphic is created through collaboration between Jeremy Fish and another artist. For the Spring/Summer collection, Jeremy collaborated with three of the most prominent names in the contemporary art world; Sam Flores, Matt Irving, and Travis Millard. The screen-printed decks will be a limited release of 300 for each design and will retail at $80. Upper Playground and superFishal are also offering the decks in a set of three for $210, with the first 100 sets being signed and numbered by Jeremy Fish.
